It all started with the simple idea of bringing together some collectors and curators to discuss their loan experiences, initially in London… and it ended up becoming a wonderful evening at Sylvain and Dominique Levy’s maison in Paris!

Sylvain and Dominique are a very inspiring Paris-based couple, who collect contemporary Chinese art and have been sharing Vastari's mission from the very beginning.

When I first approached Sylvain Levy to ask for a recommendation of a place in Paris to host a casual evening in which I could facilitate a meeting between French collectors and curators, he immediately offered their house. This was fantastic as it allowed everyone to visit the nest of a very special collection!

The DSL Collection was created in 2005 with the aim of sharing their Chinese adventure and promoting contemporary culture, using the latest technologies to reach a greater audience.

Sylvain and Dominique inspired everyone when they shared a bit about how they started collecting - and believe it or not, it was acquiring objects at a flea market in Paris! All the present curators were very keen to learn more about the virtual museum of the DSL Collection, and very enthusiastic to discuss the future of exhibitions.

After this pleasant evening with great people and inspiring conversations, it is clear that face-to face meetings hold a very significant role in nurturing relationships.

This is why Vastari will not only keep building technology tools to unlock access and connect people, but will strive to organise many more evenings like this in 2019. So, please let me know if you would like to be alerted to any upcoming events.

I wish you all the best for the festive season and a happy New Year!
