Alongside big names like Tate Britain and the National Gallery, Vastari has recently been nominated for the Apollo Awards 2014 for the category of Digital Innovation of the Year. This new award recognises ‘organisations harnessing digital technology to advance access to, or knowledge of art’
Vastari is a platform that connects private collectors and museums for temporary exhibition loans. Collectors with a predisposition to lend pieces for exhibitions can anonymously register their works of art in an ultra-secure, searchable database. Simultaneously, verified curators from top institutions worldwide can search this database and directly contact the owner if they are interested in a piece for an exhibition.
Others nominated include the Public Catalogue Foundation with their mission to improve knowledge of the UK’s public collections as well as the Factum Foundation which uses advanced methods to document and reproduce vulnerable works of art.
The winner will be announced on the evening of Wednesday the 3rd of December and will be published in the December issue of Apollo Magazine.
